Solstice is an extremely special time of the year for so many people, especially my family. Right at this moment, they are watching videos of an engagement ceremony that happened two days ago. We’ve done this for as long as I can remember…reliving celebrations as soon as possible, watching everyone dance, singing along to the folk songs sung by live musicians, swooning over outfits. For as much as we’ve grieved this past year, sitting in winded laughter on this night in particular is especially sweet.
I wrote about Solstice last year, so this year I’d like to keep it short and wish everyone a light-filled holiday!
In cleaning and clearing today, I found this from Mara Hoffman’s Spring 2019 show. Thank you, friend, for this reminder!

While we’re on the fashion tip, Gabriela Hearst is donating 100% of net proceeds to Save the Children’s Afghanistan Crisis Children’s Relief fund through the 25th. Donations in a loved one’s name are always a great gift if you’re in need of ideas.

I highly encourage attending this solstice event benefiting Afghan cultural workers, civil servants and human rights defenders seeking refuge in Afghanistan on the 28th:

Send a prayer or a whispering of solidarity out for those who could use some extra light this solstice if you can.
