A scent is sensual.
Ascent is sensual.

memory complexes
clouded with hand-rolled smoke.
a floral ether
dousing for remembrances.
panoptic olfaction:
swollen attraction,
sour saliva,
back of the brain awake-fullness.
The technology of scent and olfactory memory are helpful companions while learning and retrieving knowledge. Whether that’s the knowledge of a mother’s safety through her scent to a baby, the difference between edible and rotten food, or imprinting a lesson inside a smell.
I remember the steam of a bowl of chicken top ramen the night where odor and memory’s significant relationship crossed my studies long ago. For a year, I lived in a scent and chemical free environment in San Francisco. In its absence, the world became much louder, more full of information, a barrage of curiosity and anxiety. This sensitivity became part of a delicate practice of scent adornment, one that has grown even more significant since losing my smell with the cov1d. The above photo is an excerpt from my library of fumes.
The below is an excerpt from a paper on sense, human behavior and evolution:
For most living creatures and for mankind smell is one of the most important ways of interaction with the environment.

Language and speech also play an important role in the perception and discrimination of the odors. Although, we find it hard to describe an olfactory sensation, this is very important in defining and bringing the smell in the cognitive part of consciousness. The classic example of wine tasters is relevant for this process. The oenologist analyzes orthonasal and retronasal perception, compares them with other flavors from his memory, and is capable to identify constituents separately. This process is a cognitive effort including smell, language, taste, and memory.

Smells and flavors are important socio-economic factors. Olfactory signals can act as a catalyst in the social interactions or can be used as marketing strategies.

Back in the ancient times, perfumes used to play a part in defining sexuality consciously contributing to the unconscious effect of pheromone–like chemicals on the vomeronasal organ.
