Bravo! A very timely message as I've removed myself from the socials this year until who knows when lol — a conscious decision that's very closely based around many of the points you covered here. "How can we take the well online?" I've combed over this query for years and still I arrive at the same place which is: consciousness + online activity feels conflicting.. one cancels out the other in the sense that consciousness is born from present moment awareness, which online activity battles against.. regular online activity, especially in online social settings is known to hinder our decision-making skills, it encourages delayed response traits, etc., all of which strip away at our present moment awareness abilities thus making us less conscious irl. I don't have all the answers, but I'm grateful for the ideas you shared under 'Electronic Arcology' — the path to 'Somewhere Good' is already here. Xx
Thank you for these thoughts, Leah! I agree, the ability to maintain presence feels in conflict with being “online,” and yet it seems that the digital space is an inevitable and valid geography with all the new trends. If we don’t have people divesting in mass scale, then we can at least make room for new possibilities of relating and inhabiting the online! Thank you for reading and taking these ideas in 🌟
